Girl Scout Way, Making Friends and Friendly and Helpful

This week our Brownies finished Girl Scout Way and continued work on Making Friends.  Our Daisies earned their "Friendly and Helpful" petal.

We started off going around the circle and telling everyone about something we liked doing, as a way of getting to know each other better.  Then we talked about how even friends disagree sometimes and how we can work it out.  We split up into groups of two and acted out scenarios where friends could disagree.  Those activities were from Girl Scouts River Valley's plans for Making Friends.    They fulfilled steps 3 and 4 in Making Friends and were certainly about being Friendly.

We then moved on to "Helpful" for the Daisies and leaving our meeting place better than we found it (Brownie Girl Scout Way step 4).  We meet in my church's youth building which contains quite a few folding tables.  While people clean them if they do anything particularly messy on them, the tops haven't been scrubbed in a while, so we scrubbed them.

I had a couple of scrub buckets full of water and enough rags for all the girls.  First however, we soaped up the tables with shaving cream and had the girls spread it around.  Yes, they had fun!.  Then the adults doled out damp rags to wipe away the shaving cream and once the girls were done, followed up with a good adult wipe-down to make sure to soap was gone (not that you could hurt those tables).

What have you done for these badges?
